A Sadhaka knows the reality.. He's already arrived. Yet, he lives the life of harmony and happiness in this material world. He knows the fact that beauty exists in ugliness; violence co-exists with peace. the summation of good and bad shall always remain constant. So, he remains happy and meditative, keeping his mind's eye shut from the worldly disturbances. He limits his desires, not because he is lame or impotent: It comes from the awareness that these things are useless and of no value.
Therefore, it's not the arrogance or sense of achievement which guides a true Sadhaka. He knows that average people are ignorant and 'not aware'. Still, he gracefully respects their way of looking at things from a different perspective.
